2. Is Far-UV safe? What is the difference between Far-UV and other products?

Far-UV between the nanometer ranges of 207nm to 230nm has been shown in ongoing research to be safe for humans. Please see our Education section and look at our Science Timeline for additional details.

3. Can UVC-222nm kill Coronavirus?

Please refer to our Science Timeline to see the most recent and encouraging studies, where UVC-222nm has been proven to be effective against different strands of coronavirus.

4. Why is this type of lighting not more popular?

The technology has been around for a while, but used primarily for specific uses, such as surgery rooms. Due to the current pandemic of COVID-19, the need for this technology is bringing it to the forefront of public attention.

5. How much area does a light cover?

7. How long do the lights last? Are they warrantied?

The bulbs will be warrantied for between 2500 – 5000 hours, depending on the different designs being offered.

9. Will there be different models?

Yes, we will offer several different options from which to choose.

1. Is Far UV safe?

2. How do you ensure that your light only delivers Far-UV spectrum?

The gases that emit this spectrum are filtered to ensure the appropriate wavelengths.

3. Can I place these fixtures outside?

No. Our fixtures are not waterproof and insects are attracted to UV light. We will be releasing an outdoor/industrial version of our fixture early next year.

4. Are these lights FDA certified? Do they require FDA certification?

These lights do not claim to be a medical device and, therefore, do not require FDA certification.

5. Are these lights ETL/UL? Do they require ETL certification?

We will submit aspects of our lighting to ETL for certification. ETL’s standards for UV lighting do not reflect the current research being done with Far-UV. Please also refer to the safety position paper that ETL offers, as it’s important to know the dangers of purchasing UV products.

6. Are your products filtered?

Yes. Any Far-UV lamp emits a small UV-C peak and, as a result, must be filtered.

7. Do your lights attract insects?

Interestingly, UV light is often used to attract insects. Our lights are not used for that purpose and we encourage our customers to follow instructions on using the lights in the appropriate locations.

8. Is there an appropriate environment for this light?

Currently these lights are being designed for indoor use with appropriate heating/cooling systems.

4. Will this UV light affect other materials?

Possibly. More tests will be done to see if this spectrum affects other materials. It is unlikely, though, for the reason that this wavelength has been determined safe for skin, but it depends on the properties of the material. Please contact us with any questions.

1. Where should I put my Kryptolight? / How long should it stay on?

These questions depends on whether or not a person will live in the light or use it as a barrier. As our company releases its products, more comprehensive guidelines will be established.

2. Can these lights be connected to existing fixtures?

No. The voltages for these fixtures are designed to create plasma, and cannot be used in conjunction with existing fixtures.
